    Set against the legacy of Washington State’s Hanford Nuclear Site, The Hanford Necklace is a dual-timeline family saga about the secrets we inherit, the truths families bury, and the consequences that can echo across generations.

    The story moves between two women in the same family:

    • In 1945, Rosamond arrives in a booming Manhattan Project town to work at Hanford, where secrecy is expected and questions are discouraged.

    • Nearly seventy years later, her granddaughter Saige returns home struggling with mysterious health problems and begins uncovering disturbing truths about her family and Hanford’s past.

    Shannon grew up in the shadow of Hanford, and the novel was inspired in part by her own family history. Her mother underwent a thyroidectomy, leaving behind a scar that’s earned itself a local nickname: “the Hanford necklace.”
